GOURMET MUSHROOMS IN THE MIDDLE OF DANISH NATURE
Sydhavsøernes Naturlige Svampefabrikker
Sydhavsøernes Naturlige Svampefabrikker grows ecologic gourmet mushrooms on tree stumps from sustainable forestry on Lolland og Falster; two southern Danish islands.. At the moment we are cooperating with Det Classenske Fideicommis in relation to cultivation in Corselitze and Fuglsang forest districts.
It is essential to SNS that the mushroom cultivation i good to the forest, biodiversity and the climate. We often experience that people find the humid Danish weather a bit glumy. Our oyster mushroom does not. They love the Danish climate.

ECOLOGICAL. SUSTAINABLE. DANISH.
We grow ecological gourmet mushrooms, especially oyster mushrooms (pleurotus ostreatus), on tree stumps from sustainable forestry. The mushrooms are grown on an unutilized, environmentally friendly ressource for the benefit of Danish economy and CO2 emission. Today most gourmet mushrooms are imported from indoor greenhouse growth in the Netherlands and Poland, so just buying locally grown mushrooms will decrease the CO2 emissions on transportation.
It is of great importance to us that our cultivation are ecological and sustainable through the entire production process. Hence, we only grow our gourmet mushrooms in pesticide free forests and our raw materials are FSC certified. With the same starting point we avoid invasive species by only growing mushrooms native to Denmark. Finally it is our thesis that saprophytes like oyster mushroom (pleurotus osteatus), shiitake (lentinula edodes) and reishi (ganoderma lucidum) are responsible for keeping parasistic relatives from taking a hold in the forests.
On top of that SNS has the luck that what most consider waste products, our mushrooms find absolutely yummi. As a result, we can recycle waste and transform it into delicious natural food.
As a supplement to our oyster mushrooms SNS grows the popular shiitake as log cultre.
MYCELIUM ER EN VERDEN AF MULIGHEDER!
Sydhavsøernes Naturlige Svampefabrikker is housed in Stenbrohus in the middle of Toreby Skov on Østlolland. Stenbrohus is named after an old dolmen, and was built as a forester's residence. The first description dates back to 1899. As such, with the legs solidly planted in the Lollandish forest floor, we are extra proud of our cooperation with Det Classenske Fideicommis on cultivation in their forest districts Corselitze and Fuglsang.
First SNS is looking forward to expand the cultivaiton in the forest districts of Det Classenske Fideicommis. Then it is important to SNS to enlarged the operation to the great potentials in forests on entire Lolland and Guldborgsund communities... and who knows: why not grow sustainable, ecological gourmet mushrooms in entire Denmark.

WE BELIEVE IN MORE CLEVER FOOD PRODUCTION
Gourmet mushrooms are just the beginning! Sydhavsøernes Naturlige Svampefabrikker will expand its assortment with reishi for dietary supplements and generally promote mycelium assisted initiatives within forestry, farming and waste disposal. Fungi is a wonderous realm with strong - often symbiotic - relationships to plants, animals and humans.
Mycelium is a fascinating world people have been employed with for thousands of years: Edible mushrooms have been cultivated in China and Japan for centuries, the Slavs still have a tradition for supplementing their diet from mushroom hunting, and the Swedes have been hunting Chanterelles since before they claimed Skåne, Halland and Blekinde from Denmark. Still Western science and food production have not really taken much notice of the phantastic realm of fungi and its more than 100,000 members of expert biodegraders until recently. Hence we now see revolutionary break-throughs in the areas of myco remediation of starved soils, myco assisted waste water treatment and even cancer treatment with extracts from fungi. Skjul indhold
